Guidance for applying for Exceptional Circumstances (ECs)
If you have failed to complete either your assignment or placement due to issues such as health, personal or family issues, then you can submit an Exceptional Circumstances request. If successful, this should provide you with another attempt at the assessment in question.
Please make sure you are following the process that is right for you, checking to see if an extension might be more appropriate for your circumstances.
You can find details of how to submit EC requests here: https://crmportal.shu.ac.uk/knowledgebase/article/KA-01854/en-us
We also have guidance on our website about exceptional circumstances here: https://www.hallamstudentsunion.com/support/academic/article/6013/Personal-Circumstances-Affecting-Your-Studies/
The kind of evidence they would expect to see is explained in the Evidence to support an Extension or Exceptional Circumstances request document found here: https://www.shu.ac.uk/myhallam/university-life/university-rules-and-regulations/study
If you would like any further assistance with this, please speak to The Students' Union Advice Centre who offer independent advice and can support you through the process. You can contact the team through the Ask Us form which can be accessed here: https://www.hallamstudentsunion.com/ask/
