Is there extra funding available (home students)?
If you're a 'home' undergraduate (or PGCE, in some cases) student who started in 2017/18 or later, you may be eligible for the SHU Student Success Scholarship or the Hallam Hardship Fund for unforeseen extenuating circumstances. Additional bursaries may also be available.
For students who began before 2017/18, the Hallam Hardship Fund can assist with general financial hardship or unexpected financial difficulties.
To apply for the Student Success Scholarship, you must have been assessed for your full student funding entitlement as a 'home' student. The Advice Service can provide a funding check. If you’re awaiting funding or facing a short-term financial crisis, you may qualify for emergency vouchers.
Postgraduate 'home' students experiencing financial difficulties may also apply for the Hallam Hardship Fund and emergency vouchers. PGCE students without a separate bursary may qualify for the Student Success Scholarship depending on their circumstances.
If your situation changes, you may be eligible for benefits or additional funding—contact an adviser to explore your options. If financial issues affect your studies, speak with a Student Support Adviser or check the academic support information.
