I’ve been invited to a Preliminary meeting- what do I do?

What to Expect at a Preliminary Meeting for Academic Misconduct

You have been invited to attend a preliminary meeting regarding academic misconduct, as the staff who marked your work have concerns about the authorship of your work. At this meeting you will be asked about the content of your work and your process in creating it.

You can read more about this type of meeting and possible outcomes on the  University’s Academic Conduct page here: https://www.hallamstudentsunion.com/support/academic/article/6013/Academic-Misconduct/ and also on the SU’s webpage: https://www.hallamstudentsunion.com/news/article/6013/Academic-Misconduct/

You can prepare for this meeting by collecting evidence of the progress of your work including any research, past versions or drafts of your work, as well as re-familiarising yourself with the contents. You should be ready to fully engage in a discussion about your work.

We strongly encourage you to speak to The Students' Union Advice Centre who offer independent advice and can support you through the process. You can contact the team through the Ask us form on this webpage:  https://www.hallamstudentsunion.com/ask/
