I’ve been invited to a Preliminary meeting- what do I do?

What to Expect at a Preliminary Meeting for Academic Misconduct

You should start by reading more about this type of meeting and possible outcomes on the  University’s Academic Conduct page here: https://www.hallamstudentsunion.com/support/academic/article/6013/Academic-Misconduct/ and also on the SU’s webpage: https://www.hallamstudentsunion.com/news/article/6013/Academic-Misconduct/

You should prepare for this meeting by collecting evidence of the progress of your work including any research, past versions or drafts of your work, as well as re-familiarising yourself with the contents. You should be ready to fully engage in a discussion about your work.

We strongly encourage you to speak to The Students' Union Advice Centre who offer independent advice and can support you through the process. You can contact the team through the Ask us form on this webpage:  https://www.hallamstudentsunion.com/ask/.

If you are an international student, please make sure to reach out to the International Experience team to check how this could affect your visa here: International Experience | SHUUKCISA (the UK Council for International Student Affairs) also has a lot of useful information for international students on its website.
