How do I get around the city at night?

Getting around Sheffield at night is usually straightforward, and there are plenty of options students use regularly. Lots of areas around the city centre and student accommodation are walkable, so if you’re heading home on foot it’s a good idea to walk with friends, stick to well-lit main roads, and share your location with someone you trust.

Buses and trams are another handy option. First Bus, Stagecoach and the Supertram cover key student areas, although services can be less frequent later on, so it’s worth checking last bus and tram times in advance and using their apps to plan your journey.

Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union also works with Veezu on a Safe Taxi Scheme designed specifically for students who might find themselves without cash or card at the end of a night, so you can still get home safely even if you’re caught out.
